Where Pet Portraits Meet Shadow Magic

Hi, my name is Dave and I help run Vivid Happy, a website dedicated to people and their love of their pets! Here I am with my cat, the elusive Twyla Mae.

So here’s the story. I have been painting since I was a little kid – since age 2 when I used to paint in the laundry room in the basement. I still remember the thrill of making a huge mess! Ahh, so much fun…

Over the years, I began doing some pet portraiture for various people I know – I’ve done quite a few, to the point where sometime in my 30’s, I considered myself somewhat of a portrait artist.. for pets!

Here’s one I did a couple years back of my friend’s dog, Zibous.

So, at some point, my friend Elaine, who lives in Beijing, messaged me and asked if I wanted to join forces with her and her engineer husband for a new venture that she had in mind, featuring some type of technology I was not aware of.

It’s a type of night light that could be personalized to show silhouettes that resembled different things, such as Christmas trees.

Being an animal lover, I said that we should make the theme of the night lights just pets, specifically cats and dogs (and maybe the odd lizard).

And so, Vivid Happy was born.

Actually, as it happens, I had the web domain for Vivid Happy for a few months, and I was actually selling cat socks.

When this idea came along, I thought this was a much more original and unique concept, so I tested it out on my sister’s cat, the legendary Archie, and we went from there!

If you are interested in purchasing these fancy night lights in bulk to sell, you may check out the product pages, or if you want to buy them singularly, they are a bit more expensive, as we have to submit the order, and design them using custom computer software and a 3D printer.

Overall, you should have your orders in a few weeks and you can always email me at dave@vividhappy.com to ask any questions.
